Known as Canada’s “New King of Fashion” Alfred Sung has been in the business of fashion since the seventies. Born in Shanghai, and raised in Hong Kong, he aspired to be an artist from a young age. He studied design in Paris at the Cambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne and also in New York, at the prestigious Parsons School of Design.
In 1976, after graduation, Mr. Sung moved to Canada and opened his first shop called Moon, located in Toronto’s famed Cabbagetown. In 1982 he launched in the U.S. at fine stores including Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue. He is the founder of the famous Club Monaco brand, which was acquired by Polo Ralph Lauren in 1999.
Alfred Sung has put his personal touch on every aspect of living, including fine sportswear, casuals, menswear, fragrances, home linens, eye wear and even high end diamond jewelry. Bringing his flair for high style to weddings, Mr. Sung launched his bridal line in 1992, branching out to tuxedos in 2001, and finally teamed up with Dessy in 2003 to create his line of gorgeous, yet affordable bridesmaid gowns.

Here is an up close and personal look at a few of our favorite dresses from Dessy’s new collection.
For brides who like florals, this classic A-line bridesmaid dress is ideal. Style D699FP has so many unique things to boast about. It steals the show with its tapered high low hem, and whimsical print options. Topped with a strapless sweetheart neckline, with removable spaghetti straps included for those who prefer a little extra security and support.
Princess seams create flattering lines, while an inset waistband defines the midsection. The long skirt falls tapers to tea-length in the front, providing a peek at the shoes. Made from soft, sateen twill, it is available in three different floral prints: bold flowers on a blush background, a blue porcelain style print with blue flowers on a white china background, and a breathtaking black, white, and gray floral version that looks like a study in black and white. The bottom of the skirt appearing dip-dyed in black. The print on all versions is visible on both sides, making it a visual delight. The back fastens in the center with an invisible zip closure.
The D722FP bridesmaid dress is the sister style to the D66FP, which is offered in the same whimsical prints. It features the same construction details, such as the princess seams, self belt waistline and tapered high-low hem.
The difference here is it is topped with a wide scoop neckline that meets the top of the shoulder with a short cap sleeve. Pockets are hidden in the side seams offering the perfect place to stash a few essentials. Both gowns would look gorgeous on two different bridesmaids, while still keeping the overall silhouette uniform.
The D726 bridesmaid dress is a gorgeous option for those who prefer something a bit more subdued. It flows in airy chiffon knit. The bodice is gathered towards the center of a sloped sweetheart neckline and is fitted through the waist.
Compared to a classic sweetheart bodice, the subtle sweetheart neckline is more modest and modern in silhouette. A folded waistband meets a traditional A-line circle skirt that falls to just below the knee. You have the option of adding extra length for a longer gown. It falls nicely, skimming over the hips, with a soft movement. A center back zipper is hidden discreetly into the seam to fasten it all up.
Not that we’re obsessed with the modified mullet dress, but…just one more.
This lustrous sateen twill D723 bridesmaid dress can be made in single color or two color options. It features matching V-neck and V-backlines that coordinate beautifully with one another. The bodice is fitted through the natural waistline, where it meets the skirt with an inset waistband.
The skirt tapers from tea length in the front to ankle-length in the back. That creates a “window” to view the shoes. Pick a contrasting color of footwear similar to what the model is wearing. This dress has hidden pockets on the side seams and an invisible center back zipper.
